I mentioned in passing on Monday (at a holiday pool party) that we hadn't had a chance to cut back our thicket of Rose of Sharons this summer.

The thicket is lush and full and very beautiful, but it blocks the breeze and the view from our gazebo... and we have to trim them back several times during the summer because they grow like crazy.

I came home today from work and Lesia had trimmed them!

I love her!

Ooh, so now I know you are the person to ask if I have problems with them! I'm planning to plant some along the back of my property to give me some privacy (there's a little field in behind all of our townhouse units that is open to everyone, and the kids play back there so they can see right into my back yard and even peer into my living room!)

I have a friend who has Rose of Sharon, and said she'd give me some to put back there. She said within 3 years hers was around 6 feet tall, so it sounds like a perfect solution.
