Okay, maybe I am a bad Tiva shipper, but I just can’t seem to get myself worked up in a bad way about the Wendy spoiler.

Last week’s Tiva was a HUGE step in the right direction, but did we really think that  TPTB were gonna serve us up Tiva on a silver platter at a fancy banquet? I didn’t.

Do I still think that Tiva is endgame? Absolutely. They will be together eventually – of that I am sure.

Will it happen this season? I don’t think so. I don’t think TPTB are done torturing both sides of the Tiva fence just yet.  (evil monsters)

I think the Wendy storyline is going to depend a lot on what happens next week. If Ziva says yes or maybe to Ray (meh, but a possibility) then I think Tony will be ripe for a rebound something with Wendy. If Ziva says no to Ray – I still don’t think that means instant Tiva.

As great as last week’s ending scene was there were no declarations of love or commitment – but there was something. Tony approached Ziva with honesty and openness and she responded.

Are they ready to fall into a full blown relationship? Heck no! As much as I hate it – Ziva does have feelings for Ray and she if says no to his proposal she will be in mourning (for lack of a better word) over her “what could have been” with him. Does that mean she cares less about Tony? No, but her relationship with Ray was real and long term – what kind of woman (or potential mate for Tony) would she be if she jumped out of one serious relationship right into another? That’s not the way I want to see Tiva happen.

As far as Tony goes, I do believe he has figured out that Ziva is the one for him. Some may disagree with me here, but for Tony I think it’s only been Ziva for quite some time – it just took the events of last week for him to see that maybe he could be it for her too.

Do I think Wendy means trouble for Tiva? Ummm possibly. If it does – it will be short term and only serve to cement them together. Remember how we agonized over EJ for months? Look how that turned out. Again I say – Tiva is endgame – I have no doubts.

But I do have one major issue with NCIS right now in regards to the spoiler:

·         According to what we learned in Baltimore – Wendy was Tony’s HS music teacher – so, she’s made a career change – that’s not much of a stretch, in today’s economy many people make career changes. But that does make her at least 4 years older than Tony which puts her about 46/47 years old. That’s not much of an age difference – so why did TPTB cast an actress 2 years younger than MW to play her? I mean – come on – there are attractive, smart, dynamic actresses out there over the age of 45. As I get older – female ageism is really starting to tick me off (hee).

I'm young and I still notice the female ageism on NCIS (Ziva's age), hollyweird is afraid of showing older women except for like two (Helen Mirren, Meryl Steep).

I'm not to fussed about it either, but I'm more lukewarm about them these days. I'm actually really curious to meet Wendy.

I agree, T/Z is endgame, so if it's gonna happen on screen (rather than just a little epilogue at the end of the series) it needs to be slow and steady. Maybe, little hints, like a dance at Palmers wedding, so they can sort of test drive a relationship.

Ziva, can't say yes simply because who says yes to a guy who obviously doesn't get her. (She would HATE being proposed to in public) I'm not saying Tony is the only one who gets her but even Palmer (who I think is still a tiny bit scared of her) gets her more than Ray.

Who would say yes to a guy that disapears for weeks at a time and can't/won't get in touch with you. Everything else aside that doesn't strike me as the type of future/marriage that she wants where she is secondary to her husbands career.

I feel Wendy is just a chapter that he has to close before he moves on. I'm not concerned that it'll be more than that. But he needs to know for sure that he walked away from the engagement for the right reasons so he has no doubts.

Ray has a similar job to her father, less killing and more politics, but still similar. She saw what happened to her parents marriage. She wouldn't do that to herself or to the potential children she so clearly wants.

I can't say the Wendy story-line bothers me either, nor does it surprise me that she is going to make an appearance.

And I certainly didn't expect TPTB to just give us Tony/Ziva - no way. They, as you say, like to tease those who would like to see T/Z and those who hate the idea. They want to keep both camps happy - and that means giving hints of T/Z and moving them forward as they did last week. And then bringing in someone/something to 'mess' with that.

Even before I started shipping T/Z (and for me oddly that means writing them) I said firmly that T/Z would happen before NCIS closed its doors - even if was only at the very end. I felt that TPTB had toyed with people so much, had pushed the pairing so much, that the only way was to make it happen.

I actually feel the same way towards Abby/McGee actually - that's another pairing that needs to be resolved one way or another.

And I also agree that for Ziva to move from Ray (I think she'll say 'no' TBH or possibly 'maybe' certainly not 'yes') to Tony just like that would be OOC for Ziva and totally wrong for the dynamics.

Thus, I'm fully with you.

As for the casting - yes, well . . . Again I agree. It's a very poor show.

I agree 100% that a lot of how the whole Wendy story plays out can probably be forecast by the events of this week and Ziva's decision with respect to Ray. I also agree 100% that TPTB will likely cave and bring Tony and Ziva together at some point. My issues remain these: 1)After 6.5 seasons of teasing, tension, tiny steps forward and huge steps back, how much more can the loyal fan be expected to take without losing interest and/or faith? How many roadblocks can they continue to manufacture without making the show look and feel like a soap opera? Frankly, I'm tired of being fed these incredibly poignant moments only to have them immediately forgotten or ignored due to a regular lack of narrative consistency. Key moments in TorC, FW, SS and now, possibly, Housekeeping...negated by abysmally bad follow though. 2)For me, it's not just about seeing Tony and Ziva 'get together'. The tension, the dance, the will they/won't they has been amusing, but I would also like the opportunity to actually see them as a couple, trying in their own dysfunctional ways to build a life together around their jobs. A 2-minute homage in the last episode of the series (a la JAG)accomplishes what we hope, but does it in such a piss poor way that I will still feel betrayed. So I just can't get behind the 'it'll happen before the show ends' reverie, because I continue to fear that by the time they actually do, there will be no more stories left to tell, at least in anything but fanfiction.

I guess we'll all just lean towards stupid together, because as angry and ranty and discouraged as I often get, I can't walk away either. I respect the ship too much and am too emotionally invested to just give up, and a teensy little part of my brain continues to believe that TPTB do care and do have our best interests at heart.
