You'll get no argument from me. I wholeheartedly agree with everything you've said here.
I'm even wondering if it wouldn't be wise to finish the current show THIS season, give Tony his own team, and spin off into a new show where Duck and Gibbs could show up now and then but not be regular cast members. Tony could either take over Team Gibbs (if Gibbs retires) or get a new team, perhaps in the DC Field Office so that it wouldn't be weird to have Gibbs and Ducky around from time to time.
That said, I've lost track of whose contract is up when, but if they end the show as it stands now, I think everyone is released from their contract anyway so it wouldn't matter. So, they may or may not keep Ziva and McGee around for the next incarnation.
Of course, none of the above will ever happen - it's just my little plot bunnies going mad...
