Stern wrote what is probably one of my favorite NCIS eps ever - 7x01 - and for that, I'll always be grateful, even if I found a lot of his other eps kind of hit and miss (didn't like the Mossad this year at all).

Of course, given that my all-time favorite NCIS fic is probably a season 3 one called "The Voyeur's Web", I'm probably something of a freak...

Season 3 is actually my favorite season, and I can't remember not liking a specific episode.

I didn't start watching until S3, but then I became hooked rather quickly, main reason? T/Z - naturally.

Three is also my favorite, although I was mostly unenthusiastic about Hiatus (mostly because, as a writer, it was so frighteningly obvious that Gibbs was going to walk away and come back in season 4.) I think "The Voyeur's Web" is actually were I started to like Tony - the scene in the webmaster's background where he and Ziva are laughing hysterically at the dude? Even to a Star Wars geek like myself, that scene always made me giggle, even though it seemed like Weatherly was cracking up and Cote was trying to not join in but ultimately couldn't stop herself.

Plus? Tony and Ziva solved the case without Gibbs, which resulting in Gibbs hanging up the phone on DiNozzo. Made me laugh.

For me it's a toss-up between seasons 3 and 4. Season 4 was what got me hooked on NCIS (specifically, the "Trojan Horse"-"Angel of Death"-"Bury Your Dead" arc), but the two seasons do have a really similar feel to them.

Least favorite season: season 2. I actually think season 2 might have been why I used to hate NCIS, because I used to come across re-runs all the time and think, "My god, what a boring show", and that's still kind of my reaction season 2.

I just saw this on the CBS boards...can't believe it; especially because he became so involved with the fan-base this year. I agree that's he's been hit or miss, but also that 7.1 was THE best ep of all time. I wish him well, and I hope the plot lines of the show don't suffer without his input!
