Me too, actually. After the abomination that was X3, I'd given up, and when I saw the earliest images with ugly yellow outfits, I thought this would suck ... but then more stuff started trickling out and one of the overseas trailers just nailed it for me. I'm a big comics fan from way back and the Xavier/Magnus exchange is just perfect:

Damn. That just perfectly encapsulates the differences between the two...

That's what sold me too... and didn't think I would ever hear myself say this, but... James McAvoy as Xavier - it works (based on the previews and I had my doubts).
Jennifer Lawrence is a Louisville, KY girl so of course I am standing in her corner.
I collected the X-Men trading cards when I was younger(didn't get into the comic books) - I hope my mom still has them stashed somewhere - note to self - ask mom about those cards (grins)
I just got back from seeing this movie and its everything we thought it would be. Infinitely better than the crap that was X3 and just all around an excellent movie. Fassbender - the guy playing Magneto - is unbelievably excellent.
Highly, highly recommended. I'm planning on seeing it again soon.
