Gonna do it this year...

I am going to get the Lasik procedure done on my eyes this year.  I am soooo tired of wearing contacts.  I was outside for a bit today and I swear the darn things froze to my eyeballs - most uncomfortable.

I say I am going to do this every year, but I never end up doing it.  I don't know why as I am a good candidate, I know people who have had it done and they love it and my insurance pays for it.  So really, no reason not to do it....except for that whole laser cutting of your eyeball thing.

If my insurance would pay for it I'd think about it... but it won't so my lasers for my eyes.

I wish my insurance would pay for it. I'd love to get rid of my glasses. I've had them since 5th grade.

It's Lasik. Lasix is a diuretic.

Speaking as someone who suffers from dry eye, and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, let alone a friend, I'll caution you to investigate this thoroughly before you do it. The procedure is KNOWN to cause dry eye (among other things), and it's not reversible. Check out this article for starters:

Not telling you not to do it, just think carefully and make sure you ask some questions about this before you take the plunge.

*hugs*

I've been wanting to do it, since I first read a GQ article back in the 90's, only back then it was only done in Russia and it wasn't even lasers....they actually sliced your eyeball with a scalpel. I had nightmares about this idea, but dreams of actually being able to see safely without glasses. Here we are in 2013...and I'm still wearing glasses and my vision has only gotten worse. (My glasses are now "progressives," --- just like me.) Let me know if you do it and how wonderful it is...because I really need to get my shit together on this.
