This was a hard one and kind of vague, so this is my interpretation….

Ari and Kate: If they had met under different circumstances, it might have turned into a love story – and a new ship could have been christened.

 There was definitely a connection – an attraction there – but it didn’t stop him from shooting her in cold blood – wish it could have been different for them -

It really is a tough one to interpret, very odd indeed. A friend of mine yesterday suggested had the word 'properly' not been there it would have been easier. For example Kate and Ziva.

I like your take on it and I agree, there really was a connection between them. It could have been a very interestingly ship.

They actually had incredible chemistry. It's one of those pairings where I wouldn't mind some kind of fanfic Alternate Reality or just a "missing scene" where something else had happened between them.
