Human Bravery and Compassion
Just when I am about ready to give up on the human race because of the evil we do to each other - I read about the compassion and bravery of 70 workers who are still working at the Fukyshimas Dai-ichi nuclear plant in Japan where radiation levels are now at unsafe levels and disaster is just a tremor away.
They are wearing protective gear and working in short shifts, but still they are exposing themselves to a a very painful death if they do succumb to radiation poisoning - not to mention the physical hazards of working in these structurally unsound complexes.
I am sure they are frightened and I can't even begin to imagine the fear their loved ones must be experiencing. In searching my soul, I am still not sure if I could be as brave - would I stay and try to make the plant safe for those living in that province or would I take my family and run for the hills? I would like to think that I would put the needs of others (millions of others) before my own, but in my heart of hearts, I am still not sure - and that is heartbreaking for me - I would like to think I am a better person than that.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the all the peoples of Japan and all those involved in rescue, recovery and relief efforts, but these 70 brave workers have a special place in my heart.

Those 70 people truly are heros.
I too would like to think that I would be willing to help but a part of my doubts it.
