Anybody else watching Showtime's Homeland series? I am seriously loving this show and last night - OMG what a twist.
One of the things that I really like about this show is that you don't really know the characters and they keep you guessing. Maybe, it's because the show is brand new and the characters are still developing and we are "getting to know them", but I really think they keep us guessing because they are all CIA spys - they are chameleons and I don't know if we have ever gotten more than a glimpse of the "real" people. Sometimes I think even they don't know who they really are.
I really like the premise of the show, but was starting to wonder just how long they could keep up with the "was he, wasn't he?" theme - I mean there are only so many interviews, polygraphs, surveillance things you can do before it starts to get boring and I am very pleased the show didn't let it get to that point.
Last night I got thrown for a loop twice: Carrie's sexcapade with Brody (wow! the things that woman will do for her job) and the twist on the identity of the turned POW - didn't see either of those coming.
The ending scene with Brody checking on his family and then breaking into tears was so poignant- it was the first time that he had shown actual emotion since his return. I wonder how much of that is a result of his time with Carrie and of her subsequent betrayal.
My favorite exchange:
Brody - So the CIA thinks I am a terrorist working with Al Qaedea
Carrie - I think you are a terrorist working with Al Qaeda.
This right after they gotten out of bed together while Brody is holding a gun on her. Carrie has guts.
I really feel for Brody's family in general, but I can't really say that I like them - they are shadow characters with not much depth - if they weren't there at all it really wouldn't change the feel of the show much. Maybe that will change as the show develops and as it has already been picked up for a second season, we have time.
Can not wait for next week when we actually get to see what Walker is up to.
If this show is still on when Game of Thrones resumes - I am going to have some serious decisions to make because they air at the same time - which to watch and which to DVR for later.

I think that's really well-written, how we're feeling that from the actions of his character. I'd not seen Damian Lewis in anything before, and I really think he's an amazing actor! ♥

And Carrie remembering Brody calling out Issa's name in his sleep & connecting him as Nazir's son. She knows Brody is closely connected to Nazir, but will she remember?
Gah! So many unanswered questions & so many possibilities for season 2!!!!

OMG, I just love this show - it's like layer upon layer of intrigue! :D
