I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. My Christmas was awesome, but I am kinda glad that it's over. I am having a New Years Party at my house on Saturday for about 30 people. It's the last party of 2011 (yay!) and the first party of 2012 (yay!). After that party, I am shunning parties for the next couple of months.

I just want to relax at home with my family, read and maybe if the stars align correctly write something. I have lost all motivation to write and the loss of motivation has led to a crisis of confidence. I am crossing my fingers that by participating ininkingitout I will be "forced" to write, getting me over the block, increasing my confidence and hopefully my skill.

I am liking it more and more here on dreamwidth, especially now that proseac told me that we can use Semagic on DW just like on LJ.  As a matter of fact, I am posting this with Semagic.

I am very excited for next week's episode of NCIS. I miss my show!  Repeats just don't hold the same appeal on Tuesday nights.  Its crazy - I have no problems watching a repeat on USA channel (actually love it), but I hate repeats on Tuesday nights.  Tuesday nights are for NEW episodes! 

I think the next two episodes are going to generate alot of buzz and excitement for us.  I am looking forward to having fun in the fandom again.  The hate and angst have caused me to pull back just a bit, and I want to be a flailing fangirl again, it's fun.  Fandom is one of my "escapes" from the rigours of life - and I don't want to deal with drama, angst and hate - heck, there is enough of that in the world - I want my fun free of that.

You are a glutton for punishment with all these parties! You will deserve a rest after this! And here I am, fretting over having two people over on Friday...I know, I'm silly, but it'll be the first time I've had any "company" since the reno started back in the summer, and I want the place looking good again. It'll take a LOT of work, so it's a good thing I have two whole days. They're not coming until 7 pm tomorrow.

I too am looking forward to new episodes. I feel like I'm in withdrawal...didn't watch a single ep from December 23rd up until last night. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I pulled out my DVD's and got back into it, watching "Freedom" which is the next ep for the Daily Drabble. I'm going to start posting again tonight! Yay! It's one of my faves from Season 8, because we have competent!Tony at the end figuring out that the kid next door had stolen McGee's credit card info. I really got the sense it was the kind of thing Tony himself would have done at that age!

Rae is lightning-fast with that comm - just got an invite already! I won't be able to work on the guidelines until after I have my company tomorrow, I'm afraid. Hope I won't be holding you guys up too much?

I'm trying to figure out how to change my display on here...right now, even when I'm on someone else's journal, it shows in my style, which confuses me. I like to have it show up in their style, so I know I'm not in my own journal. Any idea how I do that? I'm also planning on working on moving my LJ layout over here, because I really like some things about it. Have to work through the tutorials I've found.

Anyway, need to get moving - I have some shopping to do (just groceries etc. cos I'm staying away from the mall until the mayhem dies down! LOL) and then I have to move all the junk currently stored in the dining room back down to the basement. RENO IS DONE!! YAY! Pics to follow - I forgot my camera at my brother's house, so I have to wait for him to mail it back to me. *iz stupid*

On the top right you should have some view options - light, site, orginal ... try orginal and see if that fixes it.

I was ninja fast making the comm ... now we just have to pretty it up before throwing it out into the world of dw. But we don't have a timeline so we're fine! :)

That worked, thanks! Funny thing is, in my Account Settings, it's set to default as "original style" which I think should make this happen automatically without me having to do anything. I'll see if it sticks now or not.

Can't get motivated today, and I have TONS to do. Maybe I'd better shut off the computer? Hee!

I think we are fine on waiting for the guidelines. We don't have a timeline and don't want to stress over it.

Looks like you have your journal question answered - yay! soon we will have everything exactly as we want it and we won't even miss LJ. I will have to check that journal several times a day because I have some friends/comms that can't/won't make the change, but that's okay. Once my paid subscription expires in June I will take it back to the basic free service. I bought one month paid service on DW just for a test drive - I think when it expires next month, I am going to bite the bullet and go ahead and purchase for the year - that way I can forget about it.

I went ahead and paid for the year over here on DW. The extra 35% bonus was too good to pass up. I think I'm going to import my icons from LJ now rather than uploading them here one at a time.

I have motivation ... but I'm having the crisis of confidence right now. The story I'm working on now I just keep staring at. I'm not sure if I like it at all. I loved the idea in the beginning but I don't know.

Plus I have 3 prompts that I claimed that I need to write and I've got nothing. One prompt is Kensi/Deeks/snow story. I've researched some great ski areas around LA. And now I almost want to go skiing ... but ... no story.

Hey, I know nothing about NCIS:LA but how about doing something where they're on assignment in another part of the country (you know, somewhere that actually GETS snow) and they get stuck? Either the car goes off into a ditch, or they're stranded at the airport or something? Have to bunk out in a motel, only one room available, yadda yadda...does that kick start the muse at all?

I don't think places in the US get snow anymore ... I actually saw a report on the news the other night that the US is having a snow drought and it's hurting the ski resorts since they're not making money.

Oh believe me, Buffalo gets plenty (or at least, it always has in the past, so for fic purposes you could use it). They're just west of here and the "lake effect" snow is unbelievable. I always go to Buffalo airport when I fly to any US destination, and the last time I came back to Buffalo, we couldn't find my car in the parking lot. They'd had so much snow all the cars were completely buried. The shuttle driver who brought us through the parking lot had a shovel with him, and was helping everyone dig out. It took 45 minutes to FIND my car and then another 1/2 hour to dig it out.

That said, yes, global warming is certainly changing the weather patterns and this is a really weird year for lack of snow. You could use a bit of creative license though, right?

I actually found a cool ski resort not to far from LA that I can sent them on assignment on. The problem is I just read a great fic with a snow storm and a ski resort so it's hard to not copy that idea ... lol.

Though, a crossover with DC would be fun where they all get snowed in together ...

Oh yes! *jumps up and down* I like the crossover idea! You could throw in an angsty moment between Gibbs and Kensi (I don't think he ever met Deeks) where they share memories of Lara Macy. I bet Deeks and Palmer would be fun together, too. There must be a few ski resorts around here too. Or you could always set the story up here in Canada...just please don't have the Mounties in their red ceremonial uniforms like they did on the show. Ugh!

That happens to me alot. I have these stories that sound amazing in my head, but when I try to get them down on paper they just fall flat. Thats what happened to me with my Leaves of Memory story. I am still totally in love with the concept of that story, I just can't get it quite right on paper. Maybe I will come back to it later...maybe not.

Kensi/Deeks/Snow - sounds like it could be fun (snow ball fight) or cozy (fireplace, wink, wink) or downright scary (blizzrd) or all 3. Not sure where you are going, but I have faith you will work it out.

I withdrew from inkingitout. With the way I was feeling, and still am, once I'm finished with the in progress fics and all, I don't know if I'm going to continue writing. While I don't like writing for feedback, it is nice to receive once in awhile and haven't had much of it at all lately. Just sick of crap about preferring het pairings.

I am so sorry that you are feeling bummed out. I wouldn't be too discouraged about lack of feedback right now, people are really pressed for time with the holidays. I know my schedule frees up quite a bit after first of the year.

I do read the quick one shots, but the longer chapter fics (like yours)I will go back when I have more time. If given the choice, I like to read chapter fics in one sitting so I get the flow of the story better.

You are a talented writer (you and Buggy mesh well together), so it would be a loss if you gave up all together. Maybe you just need to take a short hiatus - recharge your batteries so to speak
