Ended 2011 with the same people that I started it with.  Here's hoping that I end 2012 with that same group of friends.  Later today we will drive down to my parent's house for a traditional dinner of corned beef and sourkraut (as my nephew calls sauerkraut) with my sisters and their families.  A great way to start a new year.

Later, I hope to actually sit down and write.  I really don't have the motivation, but I am going to force myself to do it.  I may or may not post it as my confidence has hit a wall - but my goal is to write, not necessarily to post.  Crossing my fingers.

I hope each of you are spending the first day of 2012 in a way that makes you happy.

Ever think about using a beta? I've found it to be a wonderful thing, even though I was nervous at first. That second pair of eyes often points out things you'd never noticed yourself, and forces you to develop the habit of looking harder and more critically at what you've written (I'm not saying you need to be MORE self-critical - hee! - just that you become a better writer over time when you start thinking like your beta does BEFORE you write the stuff, or before you send it to them and then you can edit it right away and improve it relatively quickly and simply where before it might have been a real struggle). Sorry, run-on sentence...:)

You are so right - it's important to write even if you don't post. In future I will probably be only posting completed works, and letting things sit and percolate for awhile after I've written them, so I can go back and polish before putting them out there for the world to see. My one piece of advice - "don't post" doesn't equate to "delete". You should keep the stuff, even if it's not publishable quality. There are always kernels of good stuff in there that you can use elsewhere. Just look at Zaedah and how many fics she's gotten out of all those scraps of paper! XD

HAPPY NEW YEAR, Sweetie!!

Well, [personal profile] karaokegal will not be doing her daily drabbles this year, so perhaps she'd be willing to do some beta work for you? [livejournal.com profile] zaedah has her name listed as a beta for hire on ff.net so I'm sure she'd do some for you. And I'm always willing to offer my humble services if they are deemed worthy of being requested. So there's three right off the bat.

You're not getting off that easy, see??

BTW, would you consider signing up for CaseStory Big Bang? I just threw my hat in the ring - I figure if I can write 78,000 words, I can write 10,000 easy-peasy. I'm going to expand on my Sixty Seconds one-shot that I wrote for lfws last year. It'll count towards my 150K for InkingItOut.

Yay for posting a new story!! See? You're already down to 74,000 for your goal! Keep this up, and you'll be done in less than 3 months!

I want to make that locked comm tonight that I was telling you about to post to a select few.

I posted my t/z and k/d stories last night just to get them off my computer. Upon posting and reading online I like them a little better.

Yeah, I have this MASSIVE original fic story that I want to post but it needs serious beta work. I know its not BAD, but I'd rather have someone else look through it. Normally I go through my own work critically but that is just way too much for me to handle (16 complete chapters so far).

You need yourself a Buggy or a Sean to kick you in the ass when you are down. I'm more than willing to write with you as well, but I only write collabs on Google Docs if you can handle that.

And I should also point out that the particular story was started GOD knows when. June or July. Last edit to the ORIGINAL document was the end of July. It doesn't say when it was created though.

The one with Sean is going to be the sequel to Puakenikeni. The last part of Pu'uwai Series.

Buggy and I haven't started plotting yet. She's not talking to me AT ALL about it right now LMAO.

Um...what's your email again? Do you a google account at all? for anything?

In my defense...

1) she only showed me she signed us up for it.
2) no idea when the deadline is (don't care)
3) we are writing on Toe The Line
4) we were also discussing a SGA/NCIS/H50 crossover
5) I'm sleepy.

Happy New Year.

I have too many ideas. I could sit down for days and write. My muse is sparked by anything and everything, including the new diary I brought.

Don't stress yourself out and maybe look for prompts or a prompt comm.

Jan 1st was hangover day. Jan 2nd was work.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

I hope it brings you health, peace and happiness.

Our neighbours came over in the afternoon. We think it's either a Scottish thing or this area thing or their own thing. We were most surprised the first year when we moved up here and they rang to say they'd like to pop over. Since then apart from one year they were away they've come over each year.

So J and I are having our New Year's day lunch today.

Sorry, that was more information than you needed/wanted/expected *wry grin*

I hope you had/have a lovely time with your family.
