Summary: Ziva plays it safe
Notes: You might have to be a coke drinker with a knowledge of the debate of new coke vs classic coke to understand this one. 

They were two hours past lunch and still several hours away from calling it a day.  Nerves were frazzled and stomachs were growling when Gibbs called a halt to the activities for a food break.
 
Pulling up to the drive thru window Ziva placed the large order of burgers, fries and soft drinks. 
She was thrown a bit when the person taking her order asked if she wanted regular coke or classic coke. 

“There is a difference?”

“Oh yes” replied the unseen speaker “classic coke is the old coke”

Reasoning that  new coke would taste better than old coke (why would they sell that anyway?) she ordered them all regular cokes, better safe than sorry.

LOL - I was afraid some folks wouldn't get this. A few years ago - Coca Cola came out with New Coke - it had a slightly different (sweeter) flavor. There was a huge backlash among the coke drinkers who preferred the old formula so Coca Cola started selling two different versions: Coke Classic (or old coke) or Regular Coke (the new version).

After a couple of years it became apparant that the majority of folks wanted the old or classic coke version so the regular or new version went by the wayside, but for a while there you had two options and had to specify which coke you wanted.

Ziva thought old coke meant old coke as in it's been sitting around for a while and gone stale - she didn't get the whole old coke vs new coke debate.

Ahh. We had the different cokes here but the sweeter one was known as American coke. Oh. Yes, Ziva would be confused.

I'm imagining the response the boys had when she got back with the drinks. :D This was a good one... I remember that debate well!

I was ready to wage war when they started monkeying with the Coke formula. Seriously. And remember 'Cherry Coke'? There's another screw-up. Is that still around, or did they get smart and get rid of it?

This was the big boo-boo that spawned that famous book, "The Other Guy Blinked", written by the CEO of Pepsico. I wonder how much market share Coke lost over that one? And I wonder how many people got fired as a result?
