Well, it looks as if the summertime activities have started to impact viewership. Some people are saying that the decrease in adult viewership is related to the so-called boycott against NCIS from the religious right because of the introduction of a gay character. I personally think that is a bunch of hooey.

Aside from the political part of that, I really think viewership is down because NCIS has become boring and monotonous (for me anyway.) It just doesn't hold my attention like it did last season, and I didn't even care for the previous one very much. I don't like season 1 or much of season 2. The characters are awkward and....clunky. I'm also a little bias because I just never truly liked Kate, I didn't hate her but there was nothing I could relate to with her, nothing that interested me, except for her twisted love/hate for Ari. Though the cases had their twists more so then, which was nice.
But I also feel like, despite what the writers/actors are saying there is very little true character development, they push it off as such but it isn't. It's like they are pandering to one sect of the fandom each episode.
I'm just disappointed in NCIS this year. :( Sorry for the diatribe.
