Somebody Please Explain to Me.....

 the premise of the new show that FX has been promoting - Wilfred?  It stars the man/child from The Lord of the Rings trilogy - his name escapes me at the moment.

Wilfred is a dog played by a man dressed in a dog suit?  What am I missing?

From what I understand, Frodo evidently tried to commit suicide via pills and it screwed with his brain. He's the only one who sees the man in the dogsuit; everyone else sees a dog.
