It was a beautiful evening so I decided that I would grill burgers and we would eat dinner outside on the deck.  I really outdid myself by preparing all the sides and patted out gourmet burgers just the way my family likes them with cracked peppercorns and crumbled asaigo cheese mixed in with the meat.

Sometimes the electric starter on our grill doesn’t work so we have a fireplace lighter for use when it is feeling stubborn.  Last night was one of those nights it wasn’t working so I leaned over the grill to light it when whoosh flames shot out of the grill and singed the front pieces of my hair.  Did you know that burnt hair stinks?  Really bad; and It scared the crap out of me as I thought it had burnt my face and eyes (thanking God that it didn’t).

I then decided that making dinner was hazardous to my health so I turned off the gas, packed up the food, put it in the fridge and we went out for Mexican (and a big margarita for me).

I trimmed off the singed ends of my hair and even after shampooing - twice, I swear I can still smell it.

I hate that grill.

Burnt hair is certainly horrible, my friend learnt that the hard way one science class when she spun round and sent the end of her pony tail through the bunsen burner. Glad it was nothing more serious though!

OMG! Yeah, sometimes it's just NOT WORTH IT! So glad it wasn't worse and your family did you right and took you out. Make the hubs grill 'em tonight? ;)

*Meep* How awful :-(

I'm just glad it was 'just' your hair and not your face.

A large margarita sounds good to me.

*Hugs*

Damn grills!! I've had my hair burned before and yes, that smell is one you never forget. Glad you're okay! We actually tried to make burgers 2 nights ago and ran out of propane so we took to the George Forman instead. I understand your burger frustrations!

Margaritas make everything better. Sorry that your grill attacked you, burnt hair is a God-awful smell!

And this is why I don't have a grill (or barbecue, as we call them up here in the Great White North! Hee!)

So glad you weren't injured. And yes, burnt hair smells AWFUL. I would jump in the shower and layer on the scented shampoo and conditioner if I were you!

I'm not meant to be domestic either, I can cook one pasta dish everything else kinda fails.

Ouch.

Thanks for translating Proseac. We call them BBQ's in NZ and we did in the UK too.

We have a BBQ but I don't think we've used it since the summer we brought it a couple of years ago, besides in my house bbqing is my Dad's domain.

Yeah burnt hair stinks ... my sister once held a straightener on her hair for ages. We opened every window in the house.

I'm glad your ok. And a nice big drink sounds like the best cure.

Household equipment sucks! Last October I sustained first and second degree burns to my face, neck and hand after lighting my furnace for the winter. Gas build-up and all that fun stuff.

Ambulances are expensive! Plus it delayed had Symbiosis to the point of death threats : )

SInged bangs might be an in look? But my loss of eyebrows and eyelashes was no sort of fashion statement (hee hee)

I hear you, babe. Things like that are my life in a nutshell right now...but, I am so, so glad you didn't hurt yourself! My grill scared me with that same thing all the time! I did know burnt hair smells horrid. And it will take weeks to get that smell out of your nose! Perfume, if you can!
