Hiatus Love Affairs...

I find myself cheating on my TV true love (NCIS) while we are apart.

Let me preface by saying that I am not a fan that passes hiatus by watching repeats week after week.  It is actually very rare that I rewatch an episode and when I do get the urge - I have my downloaded episodes. Tuesday nights are my own again!
 
I haven't read a fanfic (other than our tag fic) or visited a spoiler site in weeks.  I occassionaly log into tumblr, but that's mostly to see what it is going on with my newfound loves.  It's not that I am not interested in NCIS fanfic or what is going on in the NCIS fandom, because I very much am (can't see that changing) and I have several stories marked to come back to later, but right now I have other relationships that I am trying on.

I find I am falling deeper and deeper in love with my new shows: Once Upon A Time, Rizzoli & Isles, The Borgias, and Downton Abbey.  I have actually been having affairs with Homeland and Game of Thrones for awhile now.

Maybe what I love about these shows is that while I have favorite characters - I don't have favorite couples and there are definitely no ships in the harbor of any these shows.  I can just sit back and enjoy the show.

Don't get me wrong - NCIS is still my favorite and I can't imagine anyone replacing T/Z as my (one and only) ship - but sometimes being a shipper is hard and it's nice not being vested in a pairing while I watch how the show plays out week after week.  For this reason alone, I sometimes envy the folks who watch NCIS and don't ship.

I am sure I will return to my first love when new episodes start to air and I am really very excited about the premiere, but for right now I am happy being a cheater and NCIS will just have to scoot over and make room - I don't think I can be monogamous anymore.

I have several stories marked to come back to from nakeisha, alidiabin, a few others, and some diary entries I want to read from our ncis_verse challenge - I hope to get to those after vacation - it's not that I am not interested in the NCIS fic because I very much am - it's just that I am having fun playing in the kiddy pool of my other shows and I want to enjoy that for a little bit before I dive back into the big girl fan pool.

NCIS was my first (and last) current show fandom - and it is very exhausting.

I think it is considerably more tiring and often less enjoyable to watch a current show when you are heavily involved in it from a fannish perspective. Once the series has finished it is so much easier.
