Day One - Favorite Season
Definitely season 3 - this is the season I started watching NCIS. Once I got hooked, I went back and watched S1 and S2, but I never gelled with Kate. I liked Kate ok, but she wasn't Ziva. Maybe if I hadn't met Ziva first, I would have liked Kate better. Ziva is my girl and her character is what hooked me, no other show had anything like her.
I liked everyone in S3 - Ziva was a kick ass ninja Mossad assassin dripping with sex appeal, but with a fun and flirty side. And smart, we can't forget - she was smart and dangerous. Tony was fun and flirty as well but competent and hot, a good lead agent. He was a frat boy, but it didn't seem to bother me then. The sexual tension between the two was palatable and fun - no angst, no anger, no emotional ties just yet, just pure physical attraction, At this point, I didn't know what a ship or a fandom was, but I was "there" without knowing it. Even then, I knew these two had a connection.
McGee was a chubby faced probie learning the ropes, competent at what he did and so very loveable, I just wanted to hug him - all the time. Abby was quirky and smart and I loved her wardrobe - and I loved that Abby and McGee had a relationship - behind the scenes - but we knew what was going on- and we liked it.
Gibbs was gruff, but loveable. Ducky was Ducky , he hasn't changed much, but he didn't need to - I love everything about Ducky and have since the first time I saw him.
Jenny Shepherd was kind in the background for me at first, but she grew on me -
The case files were interesting and solid. But the essence of the show was the team dynamic - it's what set it apart from the other crime dramas on tv. Characterization and storylines were consistent, and the writers seemed to know who and what they were writing.
Gosh, I miss S3 NCIS--
Notice how many times I used the word LOVE - well, I couldn't help it----
