Second half of S6 - can you say  "character assassination"?  What they did to Ziva was criminal, and if I go any further it will only serve to tick me off, so I am leaving it that. *grins*

It really was criminal indeed. Utterly crazy, it added nothing to the show and the repercussions are still being felt today :-(

BTW, have you any idea what Day 20 means (Two characters you wish had met properly)? I kind of wondered if it was two characters who people have put together in fanfic, but didn't really meet on the show. But as nothing else really has anything to do with fanfic, I don't know. Do you?

I was thinking it meant 2 characters that didn't actually meet on the show, but maybe should have like Ziva and Kate or maybe Ducky and Shannon. But, I like your take on it better....gives us a much bigger pool to choose from.

Preach on, my sister. They - IMHO - ruined the Ziva character with that ridiculous arc and have never been able to repair the damage (and honestly don't seem to care that they ruined her.) Also, to me, they really began the downslide of the Tony character in season 6, with the Clown dominating the year (except when dramatically appropriate as in Agent Afloat, Cloak, and then the stupid Rivkin arc) to the point that I grew to loath him.

So yeah, season 6 is definitely the bottom for me ... although since I frankly haven't bothered watching all of s8, I have minimal frame of reference there.

Tony (surprisingly) isn't all that bad in Season 8. I just hate that they are reusing certain plots (hello ridiculous finale of undercover assignments and UGH MORE ISRAEL!)

I love Ziva. I really do. But even I am sick of the Ziva/Israel theme going on with every arc and they seriously need to kill Ray. If she can't be with Tony (IMO), then she's better for single (and hot for all of us pervy fans to lust after).

If you go into customize css (http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml?group=customcss) for your journal, you will see all the code in the box. Just copy/paste that into a file to keep on your harddrive. The great thing though is, if you remember the particular color scheme for Flexible Squares that is used (thumbnail near top right corner), just use a different one next time as the code stays in the layout for that scheme.

We'll have to agree to disagree regarding Tony, I think. Yeah, they may have dialed down his stupidity a bit, but they ramped it up in other areas by bringing back Slut!Tony - oh look, he's just met this annoying Mary Sue and is screwing her in the shower by the end of the ep. Frankly, its no wonder they had Ziva turn to Ray.

I'm actually in the minority of (former) Tiva fans as I hope that Ray turns out to be a great guy. From what little I've seen of him, he's already a lot better than modern Tony. And as much as I hate to admit it, I have officially reached the point where I actually wish Cote hadn't renewed so they could write her character out (happily ever after with Cruz or something) and stop with the character assassinations.

But I may just be bitter that the showrunners have decided they don't need me around as a viewer anymore...

I wanted to shoot Tony (with Ziva's gun) just about this whole season, and especially after EJ showed up.

Someone needs to examine my shipper head, but we have already discussed my shipper studity.... I just can't let it go...it's my obsessive personality I guess.

I get where you're coming from - I don't even watch the show anymore and I still focus on them sometimes. It just makes me really sad at what the show has ... evolved into. Hell, I just glanced at the NCIS section on fanfiction.net today (first time in a while, I think) and saw that DrawMeASheep has a Ray/Ziva fic ... which saddens me because it seems that even the longtime Tiva fans have given up like I have because of the crap the showrunners keep pulling out.

Sigh.

As far as I'm concerned, NCIS ended with 'Judgment Day.' Sure, there are a couple of decent eps in s6 (I loved 'Agent Afloat') and the season opener of 7 was simply amazing, but ultimately, the bad (IMO) outweighs the good, so I simply end with 'Judgment Day.'

On my happy days, I'll advance it forward and end with 'Agent Afloat', where the team is reunited and happy. On my less than happy days, Gibbs died in the field (shot by Lee, perhaps); Tony was killed while agent afloat by a drugged up sailor; Ziva died in the 6x01 explosion; Tim quit NCIS and joined the FBI; Abby went deaf and moved to LA; and so on.

OMFG I was like WTF at the end of that episode. Yea, I don't like slut Tony either. Rather at all. Flirty is fine but that's Tony. We knew that for the past seven years.

I really do understand where you are coming from. Hell, I would be lying if I said that I didn't think the same way a few times (albeit brief moments).

What turns me off to a fandom/show more is when the fans are like "I'm right, you're wrong. Your favorites OTP is oh so fucking horrible blah blahblah"... Like fuck, I don't go around badmouthing Gibbs/DiNozzo fans (as I see them completely as father/son type) or other slashy ships. Sure there are bad apples in each pairing out there but fuck...people don't have to ostracize the ENTIRE following just because of the ones that don't know when to shut their traps...

Fandom is insane. I've never been able to understand half of what happens with fans, whether its pairing together straight characters in wildly OOC slash stuff, or writing about characters who've never met (Kate/Ziva people wig me out), or crossovers (I've yet to read a crossover that actually works for me), and so.

Fan is short for fanatic, after all.

I don't like slut Tony either.

What totally frosts me about that is the fact Weatherly believed it was character evolution. Really? Having your character regress to his 20s is evolution? Ugh.

But its just one more thing piling up that made me realize that the show has moved left while I turned right. Now I just wish I could wipe my hands of it entirely and walk away...

Well... I have to say I'm guilty of doing the crossover... I crossover NCIS/SGA with a friend where we ship Sheppard/Ziva (it's actually how we became friends with kytivafan )

Unfortunately...she won't be too happy with toomuchfandom and I after she reads this comment because the plot bunnies ran away on the crossover story for a bit and subbed with bunnies that specialize in OCs.

Frak. Didn't mean to sound insulting. While I don't understand pairing off characters who haven't met - Shepard/Ziva makes no sense to me in the slightest apart from the fact that he was very DiNozzo-like ... the universes are simply too different IMO. Sorry - I'll be the first to tell people "don't like it? don't read it."

Nah. Everyone sees fandom/characters differently. You see Shep as Tony-like, while I don't. To each their own.

I don't hold that against anyone (as I said I don't see how people ship characters like Gibbs/DiNozzo, McGee/Ziva - he's too whimpy for her IMO, and like SGA Shep/McKay - who I see as being brothers who are bestfriends and still annoy the fuck out of each other)

Shep is a sarcastic manwhore who conceals his intelligence behind a faux idiot persona. Of course, I tuned out of SGA shortly after the third season (I think), so he may have changed.

Gibbs/DiNozzo

Considering the characters aren't gay, yeah, that's an issue. Same with Shep/McKay.

McGee/Ziva

Honestly, at this point, I can actually see this happening because Tim seems to be Ziva's closest friend on the team - Gibbs is a daddy figure, Tony is a jackass (more often than not) whose frankly an emotional cripple, Abby has regressed to an immature twelve year old, and so on. Tim's the only one who accepted Ziva from day one, so even though I see zero chemistry or romantic interest between them, I actually could see it possibly happening down the road.

And that makes me go "blech."

Not my bag either, but with the way the characters have evolved, I can actually see that the McGiva shippers have some legitimate points. To me, Tony and Ziva simply aren't as close as Tim and Ziva (friendship-wise), probably because DiNozzo is so busy trying to avoid growing up and running away from Ziva. Plus, Tim knows what its like to want someone (Abby) and them refuse to even acknowledge it, so he & Ziva have a lot in common there.

Which is yet another reason that the state of the characters now make me sad.

oh, I saw your John/OC pairing and I squeaked... I like him MUCH better with Ziva, but you know how I feel about Ziva, so I am biased....

I normally don't do crossovers either (as I said on my very first comment to you, but this one worked for me - alot. Hope to see more - hint, hint, hint)

LOL, yes we do have plans on going back to it. Don't worry. Right now we are working on original fic that has characters based loosely on shep/elsa.

Actually the female is also named Elsa (I just love the name hahaha).
