I actually really like it over on DW and it's refreshing after the drama on LJ. I use my LJ as back up, but my main home is DW. It would be great if you did decide to come over - you would be a most welcome addition!
I still have some issues with it, like it's liveliness (although LJ is pretty much dead these days, too, so it wouldn't be that much of a change). There are some more rational reasons for not going there yet, but that would go too far right now. It would be a good opportunity to import my old entries and organize them and all, though, and with the people running DW, it could be a little more permanent home.
Will have to think about this some more and look into the options for customizing DW. Not sure yet it'll be really for me, but there's no time rush (yet).
The thing that confuses me now is the "refreshing after the drama on LJ" line, because most of the oldtime fans (and thus a lot of haters) have moved over to DW long ago. You mean they don't make as much of a fuss over there?
I really like the cross posting feature in DW so that all my DW entries are automatically imported into my LJ - this lets me keep in touch with my friends on LJ who haven't migrated and also serves as a back up journal. Once a week I import my LJ journal comments into my DW journal, so that I have all my comments on my DW entry. All my entries originate on DW.
DW is getting more and more lively with each upgrade from LJ, but I haven't encountered one hater (yet). It could be that my username on DW is dragonheart, which makes it harder to find me :). Most of them know me as kytivafan (which I still use on twitter and tumblr).
I think it would be a good idea to at least import your stuff over to DW (it's quick and easy), because while I don't think LJ is going to go anywhere anytime soon, I don't trust them to give us notice as to when it would happen. I could very easily see trying to log on one morning and discovering it no longer exists. Even if you don't actively use DW, it would be a good place to keep your stuff safe in that unlikely event and you could import daily, weekly, monthly - whatever works for you just to keep your journal mirrored on DW. That gives you time to find another forum that makes you comfortable without the fear of losing everything.
I haven't used LJ as my primary journal for several months now. All my entries originate on DW and then crosspost to LJ.
I don't think LJ is going to shutdown anytime soon, but I do think the writing is on the wall and I don't think they will give us any notice before they shut it down, they have proven more than once that they don't have the fandom users best interest in mind when making decisions.
I have a handfull of friends who haven't made the move, so I will continue to "mirror" my journals as long as I have friends here.
