I love my ship – heck some days it dominates my thoughts (yeah, really- how sad is that?) but I don’t think it is the “only true ship” in the fandom.

I like it that my friends have different ships: there are het ships, slash ships, our team with original character ships, cross-over ships – all kinds of ships out there and I like reading them all.

What I don’t like is ship bashing and I got a mild taste of it this weekend – as most of you know I am writing a Tony and Kort “friendship” story and friendship is used rather loosely – they aren’t really friends, but circumstances are such that they have to work together.  It is not a Tiva story per se, but Tiva is just under the surface, it is Tony’s feelings for Ziva that cause him to join forces with Kort.

I have a reader on FF.net who ships Tony/Trent and she loves the story and has asked a couple times if I would turn it into a slash pairing.  I politely told her that I don’t see them as a couple and I don’t write slash – it’s just not my forte, besides the story is not a romance by the general definition, Ziva hasn’t even made an appearance, but rather a case-fic with a very slight Tiva undertone.

She then responded that if I turn my story into a Tiva story, she will quit reading – she despises Tiva and never reads anything even remotely Tiva related – and then proceeded to tell me all the ways that Tiva has ruined NCIS and that she may not read anymore anyway because she didn’t know I was a Tiva shipper –

Really? You won’t read a story that isn’t really a Tiva story, just because the writer ships Tiva?

 And I thought I needed to get a life…..

Seriously! That's one of the things that pisses me off with the fandom. Fuck! I am like the biggest anti-slasher you can meet but I'll read/write it if the situation calls for it but I won't go around bashing the slash pairing that the thought of literally makes my stomach turn.

I would have ripped loose on that girl because she is just a fucking douche.

So, she doesn't like what you're writing. Tough. Ignore her and continue writing, there are plenty of people who will appreciate what you did.

I'm not really into the fandom, or other fandoms, I lurk here and there and that's about it. There was a time where I wrote Gibbs/Ducky and in the beginning, that irked a lot of people. Fortunately I was happy that I made a small group of friends who also wrote them.

The NCIS fandom isn't that bad compared to other fandoms. Looking at it from the edges of it, I can't really see BNF's who are being worshipped as for example in the Supernatural fandom (thank god I'm not a part of that mess!) and White Collar and Numb3rs.

What I love about the NCIS fandom is that you can't get snowed in/thrown under the table by the sheer force of BNF's.

I've recently found myself writing a Gibbs/Ducky piece, is there any good fics I should check out for that pairing because sadly some of the ones of the pit get a bit to weird.

We all still love you!

I'm very live and let live with ships. I have what I love, but I'll read almost anything. If the writer can convince me of their ship, then I'll read it.

I dabbled in a few other fandoms before NCIS and for the most part this is one of the more drama-free shipping fandoms. (For the most part).

If someone doesn't like what you write - tough for them. They'll just miss out on a cool story!

*blinks* You must hang out in other regions of the fandom. I've *never* experienced a fandom before where I had such vile and spite directed against me just because I ship T/Z. Apparently, this automatically declares my brain defunct and turns me into a rambling, nonsensical teenager... at least when it comes to the vocal anti-T/Z people. (Who mostly are, fancy that, Gibbs/DiNozzo slashers.)

I stick to LJ and not FF.net...so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But I've never run into massive drama. At least nothing like some other places that reduced me to tears and the inablity to write ships that I loved.

I've had my fair share of drama over here, too - hardly any on ff.net, though, because the main bulk of the bullies do not venture to "the pit". But almost on any big-name place/board/mailing list, the same voices are fast to bash in someone's brains for daring to mention T/Z. It went as far as grave personal insults and namecalling, and yes, I lost a lot of sleep over attacks directed at me.

Boo :(

I've had that in other fandoms, so maybe it's just because I'm more under the radar here.

*Boggles*

How crazy can you get! To actually say you'll quit reading a story because the writer writes a pairing you don't like is really idiotic and childish. It's one thing if a story is a pairing you don't like then fine don't read, but don't act like a baby with toys and pram!

I really do hate how this fandom has started bashing characters and pairings, it never used to happen.

I really hope the person won't stop you writing your great story.

*Hugs*

Good riddance, I'd say. *snorts*

Say, why hasn't she stopped watching the show again...?

There is a reason why FF.NET is "lovingly" referred to at the Pit of Voles. :)

As a person who multiships and only considers T/Z her OTP because she's written the most fic for it. I do not understand this person, and why they feel the need to bash stuff.

I was reading a great fic, involving Ziva and an Israeli OC but it got too much for me, so I quit by no longer reading and reviewing but not by getting angry.

And sadly, most of the T/Z bashing is directed toward Ziva because she ruins the Gibbs/DiNozzo dynamic.

Why the hell does the reader think she can tell you what to do, you're the writer.

I usually don't multiship (Glee aside, but that's another story) and I tend to stay clear from fics that don't have my OTP in them. That being said, I wouldn't dream of insulting someone just because they ship a pair I dislike or tell them what they should/shouldn't write, that's their prerogative and if I don't like it I simply refrain from reading without being mean about it.
