I'm running a 5K race this coming Sunday, but I get no other exercise in between my runs, which is not good. I really need to get a job so I can join a gym again...:(
Yeah, biking is great, but with our weather, it's not a year-round activity if you do it outdoors. As for kayaking...I'd never have the nerve to try it.
I'm thinking about trying out a "warm yoga" class that's being offered on a drop-in basis just around the corner from me. It's like "hot yoga" but not as intense.
Everyone says yoga is really good for runners, to keep everything loose and stretched out. My muscles tend to seize up after a run, so I think this would be a nice add-on to my regimen. And then I'll maybe try spinning, which would be great for the cardio-vascular workout. There's a drop-in place for that in town, too. I can do some free-weights here at home.
If I do those things, I don't have to commit to the monthly gym fee and then I won't feel guilty when I have to miss. I'm pretty motivated right now, so I doubt I'd cop out unless I had a good reason.
If you ever make it down my way, I will have to take you out in a kayak. I think you will love it. I do still water kayaking - lakes mostly. It's kinda like canoeing, but more fun.
